Championship events are open only to British Isles subjects or players resident therein for the past year, or those with British Overseas Dependent Territories Citizenship. In Junior Championships, ages relate to 1st January 2010 e.g. an Under 10 will be born in 2000 or later. All Junior Championships will include titles for at least one Boy and at least one Girl.

 

BRITISH CHAMPIONSHIP                                Entry fee £200 (£140 U-21)

Free to GMs, IMs, WGMs, WIMs.

 

Players who gained their FM or WFM title during the last 12 months may pay an entry fee reduced by £60.

 

All of the above apply only to entries postmarked prior to 4th July.
 

This event is open only to exempted or qualified players.

 

Prizes: - £8,000; £4000; £2,500; £1,500; £1,000; £750; £500; £250.

 

BRITISH WOMAN CHAMPION: - £500.

 

Under 21 Champion (18-21): - £250. Under 18 Champion: - £250.

 

ENGLISH Champion: - £1,500. Woman Champion: - £500.

 

Alexander Best Game Prize £100.

 

Most Improved Rating Performances below 2200 £250; 2200-2349 £250.

 

The Champion’s prize includes the Sims Prize; the Woman Champion’s prize includes the Lander Prize

 

Playing Schedule: - Mon 25 July to Fri 5 August (Rest Day Sun 31 July).

 

11 rounds, starting 2:15 pm daily, approx 7 hour sessions using FIDE cumulative incremental time

 

Play-off: Should there be a tie for the title after 11 rounds a play-off will take place on Saturday 6 August. 10% of the prize fund due for 1st and any subsequent prizes involved in the tie will be held back and distributed following the play-off. The type and length of play-off plus the distribution of prizes will be determined by the number of players involved; full details will be given in the programme. Entry to the Championship is deemed as acceptance of these conditions.

6 rounds.  All moves in 30 minutes for each player.

 

* ECF members or members of other national federations may deduct £2

 

~ The Under 15 titles will be incorporated in the Under 16 Event which will be FIDE Rated. Players who are Under 15 will not be eligible for Under 16 titles.

Open to all players except those entitled to play in the British Championship

Best performances relative to FIDE Rating for players over 21 £150, £100.

 

No player may win more than one prize.

11 rounds, starting 2:15 pm daily, approx 7 hour sessions using FIDE
cumulative incremental time

 

Players scoring badly may decide to transfer to the 5-Day Afternoon Open after 6 rounds.

Open to all players

Soanes Tournament:

Open to players under ECF 150 (August 2010 list) / 1700

Yates Tournament:

Open to players under ECF 125 (August 2010 list) / 1450

 

 

Players may ask to play in a higher section if they so wish. Players may request a ½ point bye in any round. Round One Byes must be claimed on the entry form.

 

Inform your section's Arbiter of any bye to be taken in later rounds.

 

 

 

Rates of Play

7 hour sessions (Afternoon events): 100 minutes for 40 moves followed by 50 minutes for 20 moves, then 15 minutes for the remaining moves with 30 seconds cumulative increment for each move starting from first move.
6 hour session (Senior): 40 moves in 2 hours, followed by all moves in 1 hour.
4 hour sessions: 40 moves in 100 minutes followed by all moves in 20 minutes
Rapidplays: 20 minutes + 10 seconds per move

Under 9: All moves in 1 hour

Under 8: All moves in 30 minutes
