Ponds Forge International Sports Centre

During the Championships, Sheffield will be alive with exciting events so whether you’re looking for something to entertain the whole family, or to occupy your summer’s evening, we’re sure you’ll have plenty to choose from.

 

The Championship venue, Ponds Forge International Sports Centre, is right in the heart of Sheffield City Centre so you’ll never be far away from anywhere you want to get to! All of the city centre facilities, including award winning galleries, an interesting mix of architecture and an eclectic mix of shops to browse through are within walking distance. Bars, restaurants and cafes in abundance are on the doorstep of Ponds Forge so when it’s time to take a break, you won’t have to go far.

 

Sheffield’s modern tram system, and acclaimed public transport services, mean that you can get out and about without the car. If you want to visit industrial museums or partake of some retail therapy at one of the largest shopping malls in the country you’re only a few minutes away by tram. If you want to take advantage of Sheffield being the only City in England with a National Park in it’s boundary, then a visit to the Peak District by bus or train is a definite must.

British Championship Play-off 

Should the Championship be tied, a play-off will determine the title. The play-off    will commence on Saturday 6 August immediately after the prizegiving.  

 

10% of the prize fund will be withheld for players involved in the play-off as follows:-

 

2 player play-off £1200

3 player play-off £1450

4 player play-off £1,020

 

The prize fund held back will be distributed as follows in the event of a playoff.

 

2 players

Winner £720

Runner-Up £480

 

3 players

Winner £720

2nd £480

3rd £250

 

4 players

Winner £720

2nd £480

3rd= £250

4th £150

 

The playoff will take the following form: 

 

2 player play-off  

Two Rapidplay games 20 minutes each + 10 seconds per move.

Should there still be a tie; an Armageddon game will be played.

 

3 or 4 player play-off 

An all-play-all with a faster rate of play.

Again should there still be a tie; an Armageddon finish will be used. Should more than four players tie for first place the same principles will apply.

 

Other Championships  

In the event of any other championship being tied, the title and any prize money will be shared.
